Social Media Across Platforms
I recently did some short research and observations on the use of Facebook by three different professional organizations. These observations gave me insight to the use of social of media for professional use and how I can implement some of the tools being used by the professional organizations I observed.
I choose three organizations that I personally follow/have a connection with which are: Vice, Fashionista, and Presonomics. I use Vice for personal use to catch up on current events from politics to pop culture and Fashionista to stay up on current fashion trends, see what fashion companies are doing and look up jobs to apply for. I have a personal connection with the organization Presonomics because I interned for them as a social media intern. When it comes to Vice's cross platform presence they do a great job of spreading rich content across their various social media platforms (i.e. Twitter, Tumblr, and Youtube) are the main ones they focus on. They posts daily on all platforms to keep users up to date with what's going on news wise as well as with the company. For each company I picked up three things they do well and three things they don't do well on Facebook. For Vice: different content, user engagement, and daily posts are things they do well. When it came to things they didn't do so well I could only find one major thing which was their interaction with users, they don't reply to their followers comments under their posts.
Next is Fashionista, they have a strong following on all of their social media. They maintain a cross platform presence through twitter and Instagram with various content. Fashionista does a great job of: providing daily content, posting relevant rich content, and engaging with followers. They could improve on: the content they post is the same across all platforms, keeping articles to one platform and sharing video content for other platforms, engaging with users/followers.
Lastly, is Presonomics. They maintain a cross platform presence through Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr. They posts content relevant to whatever social media platform they are on. They do a great job with: posting different content on the different platforms they use, engaging with their followers, and posting daily. They could improve with: posting content that if more fun/engage more user interaction, posting video content, being more consistent with the amount of posts per day.
Overall, I think these organizations do a great job maintaining a cross platform presence as well as making sure that each platform gets the same amount of content and has the same feel. I will take some of the pros and cons from each organization and apply that to my own social media use.
